Self-Worth -
The Fuel for Your Fire

By Alison Stoodley

Great Self-Worth is available to everyone through simple actions and mind-management. In fact, with a small output of effort you, or anyone, can increase their Self-Worth. Why would you want to? Because Self-Worth is the fuel that pushes your life forward, it keeps you moving in the direction of your goals and desires and has you feel incredibly loved in the process.

Try this exercise: Think of someone you know who has a high sense of Self-Worth. Think of five characteristics of that person that contribute to that high sense of Self-Worth. Now ask yourself, “Where in my life am I just like that?” This person is your mirror. If you didn’t have these exact same qualities you simply wouldn’t notice them in others. What most of us needs is a gentle reminder of our worth, or the cultivation of it, but the seeds of Self-Worth are already there.

One of the first things we need to do is recognize who we really are. I could tell you what I do, or where I live or about my family, or how long I have been writing, but what I want you to know is who I really am:

I am a child of God. I am a reflection of a divine spirit who is a spiritual being having a human experience. I am a student of myself and the universe. I was born into this world to discover my own value and to show you yours.
Now, answer this question: Who are You?

To work on Self-Worth you must understand that you are not your ego or your negative thoughts or your past. The real you is operating from a much higher place than that. In fact this Higher Self knows that you are perfect, just because you are here. There are no conditions riding on your perfection. It knows that everything is exactly the way it is supposed to be. There are no conditions riding on that either.

What would your life be like if you moved through it with those two notions as prominent guidelines?
1. You are perfect.
2. Everything is exactly as it is supposed to be.

Imagine it for a minute……… does that provide you with some relief?
If you knew that everything was perfect you would never judge.
You would never say the word should again. You would accept everyone, exactly as they are…..including yourself.
You would never demean yourself for not having or
making enough money.
You would never criticize your or another’s body. You would see problems clearly as opportunities, because that is what they are.
You would see beauty in all places, even desolate, cold, snowy, icy ones that you have to shovel.
You would question less and be content more. You would appreciate everything and everyone, even when they are providing you with lessons and
opportunities.

Who wouldn’t want a life like that? A lesson in
Self-Worth then is simply a reminder; a reminder to connect more frequently with our Higher Self and from there picture our world as it truly is, a loving spiritual experience.
